About this catalogue
PEATOM is the public face of a laboratory sample database: which plant material was collected, how it was processed into sequencing libraries, and which raw data files exist for it.

Counts of samples and experiments cover published experiments only.
How the records fit together
A biosample is plant material of one germplasm line, one tissue and one treatment, collected within one experiment. From it comes a nucleic acid extract, which is turned into a library element — one indexed sample within a sequencing library. Sequencing a library element on a run produces the raw files.
The two tabs follow that split. Biosamples answers questions about material; Sequencing answers questions about data.
What anonymous visitors see
Experiments are private until explicitly published. Regardless of that, laboratory notes, staff e-mail addresses and telephone numbers, and the servers and paths where files are stored are never shown to anonymous visitors — not hidden in the page, but never read from the database in the first place.
Citing a record
Every biosample, experiment, germplasm line, library element and run has a stable address of its own, so a record can be cited directly in a paper or a data availability statement.
